It was a beautiful day in the Roanoke Valley for a beer fest.

The fest is one of a series of events organized by the

located just two blocks from the festival site.
Shawn Marsland, a member of the Star City Brewers Guild, dispenses samples from Clinchbrau Brewing Company of North Tazewell VA. Apparently this was one of the last opportunites to taste their microbrew products as the brewery is reportedly closing.

A crowd of Roanoke's finest beer drinkers packed
the First Union Plaza.
Bob Bratcher, a member of the Star City Brewers Guild, discusses the art of brewing with attendees. The guild also played a pivotal role in attracting
additional breweries to this year's festival.
This volunteer stayed busy serving a wide variety of samples provided by Starr Beverages. Among the regional choices were Starr Hill Brewing Compnay
of Charlottesville VA, Legend Brewing Company of Richmond VA and Sweetwater of Atlanta GA.

Uli Bennewitz, president of the Weeping Radish Brewery in Manteo NC, proudly offers a selection of beers and distinctive brewery glassware.
Clint Jones, route saleman for BOVA Distributing, keeps a wide variety of Redhook brands well stocked.
The festival is favorite with locals, as evidenced by this gent wearing a shirt from the 1998 festival.

Staffers of the Roanoke Dazzle promote the upcoming debut of the NBA Development League. The city was was one of 8 selected for the new professional league.
