The festival was a benefit in part for the
Charlotte Trolley, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to returning electic streetcars to the city.

3rd Annual Charlotte Oktoberfest
Atherton Mills - Charlotte, North Carolina

The 3rd annual Charlotte Oktoberfest was held in
the Atherton Mills area, a rapidly developing entertainment disctrict just south of downtown.
Festival organizers included Jason Randall (l), Douglas MacKay (c), and Ed Schumacher (r). Also involved were Marlond Meadows and Ale Clayson.
Norm Randall (l), brand manager for Carolina Beer & Beverage in nearby Mooreseville NC, made sure everyone tasted the brewery's new pumpkin ale.

his son (l) started the fest off with bluegrass songs.

The four Charlotte-area Hops franchises brought a
handy portable bar trailer and large crew, including brewer John Bradford (l), Jarod Hutton (lc),
Josh Coggins (rc) and Krissy Manoni (r).
Festival staffer Douglas MacKay (r), realizing he had two national Beer Drinkers of the Year present at the festival, set up an impromptu introduction of 1998 winner Bobby Bush of Hickory NC (1) and 2001 honoree Cornelia Corey of Clemmons NC (c).

With beer writer Bobby Bush (l) looking on, Derek Wilkinson (c) and Darren Wilkinson (r - no relation)
of Bealer Wholesale handled the distributor duties for Redhook Ales. The booth was as well stocked with literature and Redhook tchotchkes as has been seen at recent festivals and was a crowd favorite.
