6th Great Smokies Brewgrass Festival Asheville, North Carolina Saturday, September 14, 2002 3 - 9 p.m.
The music & brewer roster got even better, but the festival was wetter. This was the first rain in the event's history. Tropical storm Hanna ushered in a front that delivered intermittent sprinkles, sunshine & driving rain. Note that some photos reflect wet camera lenses. When rain and lightning began in earnest, the emcee had to announce the festival was ending a bit early. Final act High Windy, which recently formed, wasn't able to play, took the cancellation as an omen, and changed its name to Dark Ridge.
